Community Code of Conduct
Study GRC is a community for anyone who wants to learn about Governance, Risk, and Compliance. We’re welcoming by design — and this page explains how we keep it that way.
Effective Date: June 1, 2026
What We Expect
Whether you’re on Discord, at an event, or anywhere else representing Study GRC, please:
- Be respectful. Disagree freely. Disrespect is not okay.
- Be inclusive. GRC belongs to everyone. Don’t gatekeep, condescend, or make newcomers feel small.
- Be honest. Share your real experience. Don’t misrepresent yourself or others.
- Be constructive. Focus on ideas, not people. Criticism is welcome — personal attacks are not.
- Respect privacy. Don’t share anyone’s personal information without their consent.
- Act with integrity. Don’t use our spaces to promote unethical practices, share confidential information, or push people to skirt the law. If you’re recommending a vendor or service you’re tied to, say so.
What’s Not Allowed
- Harassment, bullying, or intimidation
- Hate speech targeting any group
- Spam, unsolicited self-promotion, or mass DMs
- Sharing copyrighted material without permission
- Impersonating others or misrepresenting your affiliations
Where This Applies
Everywhere Study GRC operates: our Discord server, live events, this website, email, and anywhere else you’re participating as part of our community.
How to Report a Concern
- Most issues: Email contact@studygrc.org or DM any moderator on Discord. Moderators carry the @Moderator role and are listed in the #rules-and-info (opens in new tab) channel.
- If a moderator is involved: Email abuse@studygrc.org .
All reports are treated confidentially. If a report involves possible criminal behavior, we may escalate it to law enforcement.
How We Respond
Depending on what happened:
- First or minor violation — A private warning that explains what was wrong and why
- Repeated or serious violation — Temporary suspension from community spaces
- Severe violation — Permanent removal from all Study GRC spaces
Moderators and board members are held to the same standards. Reports about them go to contact@studygrc.org .
We do not publicly discuss individual enforcement decisions.
Appeals
If you think a decision was made in error, you can appeal within 14 days. Email contact@studygrc.org with the subject “Enforcement Appeal.” A board member not involved in the original decision will review your appeal and respond within 14 days. That decision is final.
Updates
The board reviews this page annually. Last reviewed: June 1, 2026. Next review: June 2027. Questions? Email contact@studygrc.org .
